Dullstroom Activities

Although Dullstroom is well known for its flyfishing there are a host of other pastimes to occupy adults and children alike. The area surrounding Dullstroom is scenic (especially in summer!) and lends itself to hiking or mountain-biking. Birding

Dullstroom Bird of Prey Centre (013 254 0765)

Catch a flying display with the birds of prey, guided by a professional falconer. Displays 10:30 am and 2:30 pm.
R40 per person. Children under 10 - R10.

Verloren Valei Reserve

Breeding retreat of the endangered Wattled Crane and other rare species.
Group outings by prior arrangement.

Driving

4x4 trails - Dullstroom Ranch (082 850 3691)

Driver's Course: Theoretical knowledge is put into practical application on 15 different challenges, covering diff-lock, Low-range and Compression braking. Obstacles include cross-axle simulations, steep accents and descents, side slopes, mud work & wading. R250 per vehicle.
Trails: 8km with guide past Ndebele ruins, the eye of the Elands River and panoramic views of the Elands River Valley.
R100 per vehicle.

Dullstroom's gym offers most disciplines, including free weights, aerobics, v-core and circuits.

Vygenhoek Spa is the first organic spa in South Africa. It has been created to offer a total wellness experience in providing organically pure products and treatments practised in an holistic environment.

Anvil Ale (013 254 0197)

Theo and Sarie de Beer serve up drafts, local fare and numerous generous helpings of boozy cake. The 1000 litre brewery produces a Blonde Ale, a Pale Ale and a Baltic Porter.

Pendle Hill Dairy (013 254 0073)

Situated at Tonteldoos, 20km outside of Dullstroom, the Dairy produces natural organic cheeses, with no preservatives or colourants. Visit the cheese and wine shop and the newly opened restaurant for a relaxing afternoon.

Wild about Whisky (013 254 0066)

Hiking

Groot Suikerboschkop

Start at the caravan park and hike up the hill for some great views of Dullstroom, then aim for the Boer War cemetary just outside of town. R5.00 per person entry fee at the caravan park.

Kiwikraai (013 235 3595)

Base-camp accommodates 14 hikers. Three separate rooms with 7 bunk beds with sponge matresses. Gas stove, pots, pans, kettle, braai grid, paraffin lamps. Equipped with pit toilet, shower. Braai area, firewood provided. Space for own tents.
R30 per person per day. R5 per person per night.

Horse riding

On the southern side of Dullstroom. Pony rides and donkey cart rides.
